This country church situated at Tutu Totara north of Marton was built in 1924 to a Frederick de Clere design replacing the original wooden building of 1884 also by de Clere. Tutu Totara is the burial place of Octavius Hadfield, missionary and Bishop of Wellington.
There are currently no regular services
held at St John's.
